Then came its deployment in the culture: think key parties and films like Bernardo Bertolucci's Last Tango In Paris (1972) and the triumvirate of Melvin Van Peeble's Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song (1971), Gordon Park's Shaft (1971), and Gordon Parks, Jr.'s Super Fly (1972). The introduction of such self-help books as Alex Comfort's The Joy of Sex (1971) and The Boston Women's Health Book Collective's Our Bodies, Ourselves (1972) capitalized on the late '60's loosening of moral and sexual standards to bring a new more scientific and insightful awareness about sexuality. Its full hegemonic effects weren't felt until almost half a decade later, when mainstream culture had absorbed this normative shift.įirst came the intervening educational effort with two primary texts. Characterizing this emerging ethos would be films like Paul Mazursky's Bob, Carol, Ted, & Alice (1969). The sexual revolution supposedly emerged in the late 1960's, but it was primarily a youthful revolution involving free love and bra burning however, from it arose a more culture-wide shift. So why did this particular musical trend appear when it did? Lest I be accused of re-producing what Foucalt's calls "The Repressive Hypothesis," note that I agree with him that in between the 17th and 20th centuries there was a "veritable discursive explosion" in the discussion of sex, albeit using an "authorized vocabulary" codifying what one could say and how, when, where, and to whom one could speak it. This music has two key features: 1) lyrics explicitly about sexual encounters and 2) actual or simulated sounds of intercourse interpolated into the song. Let's call it The Big "O " or, ballin' music (apologies to Mr. We can consider the music I will discuss a specific subgenre of the category "Quiet Storm" so titled by Smoked Robinson's 1975 title track and popularized by DJs like Washington, DC's Melvin Lindsey. This article involves a more poptimist-ic, inclusive version of music, gender, and sexuality as opposed to Marsh's narcissistic self-satisfied discharge. This first generation Detroit-based rock critic, Creem stalwart, and Lester Bangs mentor always had his eyes set higher, so while it might be Jon Landau who first saw "the future of Rock and Roll "and thanks to good buddy Jerry Wexler had already had a go with producing both the MC5 and The J. In 1979's Stranded: Rock and Roll for a Desert Island edited by Greil Marcus, Dave Marsh represented the Caveman first generation of phallocentric rock critics with his regressive essay "Onan's Greatest Hits," which seems not to understand that women pleasure themselves too-sure, he's got a girl group but they're singing about a guy getting himself off and he focuses on the front woman's vocal power (code for masculinity) and then he further proclaims, "I wish I could say that ‘Party Lights' represents the female perspective on masturbation, but my understanding of women sexually stops far short of that" (225)-and gleefully participates in all the usual moves of what McRobbie and Frith labeled "cock rock" (374-6) way back in 1978: "a great deal of my favorite rock is about wanking" (220). Marvin Gaye kicked it off, or more properly, a bit of an audio recording of Fred and Madeline Ross did. But it's full and "deathly" flowering didn't occur until the middle four years of the 1970's (1973-6). It began in the late 1960's as everything does (or so one Baby Boomer version of history goes). But of course, a good nude is so dependent on skintone that it's hard for me to say who would look good in which nude. I guess out of the entire lot, my favourites are Nails Inc Basil Street, Rimmel Euphoria and of course, OPI Tickle My Francey. It applies a bit unevenly, but nothing nightmarish. I really like this one, and I think it's a rather interesting colour. The last one, Rimmel Euphoria, is a pinky nude that seems to have a little bit of taupe thrown in - maybe its the shimmer. The OPI was nicely opaque in 2 coats, while the Misa required a little more, 3 to be perfectly even. Unfortunately I don't really like how they look. Barefoot in Barcelona looks positively orange, and Misa High Waist Hue looks like it has a slight peach tinge to it. Sadly, Misa High Waist Hue and OPI Barefoot in Barcelona seem to veer very warm on me - and I have no idea why. Index to Pinky (that's R - L): OPI Tickle My Francey, Misa High Waist Hue, OPI Barefoot in Barcelona, Rimmel Euphoria Here's the last three, along with OPI TMF again for consistency: I really like this one, I imagine it'd be pretty much universally flattering on most people because it has a nice balance of pink and beige. It's more pink than Basil Street, but less pink than Tickle My Francey. Unlike the other colours, which were all creams, this one has a slight shimmer. Rimmel Beige Style also was a 2-3 coater. This requires two to three coats, depending on how thin or thick the coats are, to acheive full opacity. The grey tinge gives it an edge and makes it more unusual. OPI Tickle My Francey needs no introduction, with it's now-famous pink-grey-nude hue. It has a little pink in it, but it's pretty beige for the most part. I really love this, and I really LOVE Nails Inc, so I have no complaints about this one. Nails Inc Basil Street.I've talked about this before haven't I? Creamy, smooth, and opaque in two coats. I don't mind this colour, I just wish the quality was better. It's a pale milky baby pink type of colour, a creme finish. First of all, it was streaky and uneven and sheer, and required 3 coats to be opaque, and even then it didn't really look that good :( This was why I had to use 3 coats for all the swatches - I figured since I had used 3 coats for Elizabeth Street, for comparison's sake I might as well use 3 coats of the rest, although they weren't nowhere as sheer. Nails Inc Elizabeth Street was a bit disappointing. Index to Pinky (that's R - L): Nails Inc Elizabeth Street, Nails Inc Basil Street, OPI Tickle My Francey, Rimmel Beige Style Each of these were 3 coats, although most only needed two. Here's the first four of the nail polishes, swatched. OK OK so I know Nails Inc Elizabeth Street isn't really a beige nude. But I'm putting it in there anyway. L - R: Nails Inc Elizabeth Street, Nails Inc Basil Street, OPI Tickle My Francey, Rimmel Beige Style, Misa High Waist Hue, OPI Barefoot in Barcelona, Rimmel Euphoria So I've finally decided to do a comparison of the various nude/beige nail polishes I have. Homeowner's insurance does not cover flood damage so it is essential to purchase flood insurance. It is estimated that there is a 25% chance of experiencing a flood during the life of a 30 year mortgage. ICC claims will only be paid on flood-damaged homes and businesses, and can only be used to pay for costs of meeting the floodplain management ordinance in your community. What is the National Flood Insurance Program? Once you submit this document to your claims representative, your insurer will pay the final installment or full payment. When the work is completed, local officials will inspect and issue a certificate of occupancy or a confirmation letter. If the work is not completed, you must return any partial payment to your insurer. You may be able to receive a partial advance payment for up to half of the eligible benefit or up to $15,000 once the claims representative has a copy of the signed contract for the work, a permit from the community to do the work, and a return of your signed ICC Proof of Loss. You should start getting estimates from contractors to take the necessary steps to elevate, relocate, floodproof, or demolish. Your insurer will assign a claims representative who will help you process your ICC claim. Once your community has made this determination, contact the insurance company or agent who wrote your flood policy to file an ICC claim. You may also want to consult with the local official before you make the final decision about which of the options to pursue. If your community does determine that your home or business is substantially or repetitively damaged, a local official will explain the floodplain management ordinance provisions that you will have to meet. This determination is made when you apply for a building permit to begin repairing your home or business. You can only file an ICC claim if your community determines that your home or business has been substantially damaged or repetitively damaged by a flood. Your ICC claim is adjusted separately from the flood damage claim you file under your Standard Flood Insurance Policy. How to File an Increased Cost of Compliance Claim Additionally, there must have been flood insurance claim payments for each of the two flood losses. If your community has a repetitive loss provision in its floodplain management ordinance and determines that your home or business was damaged by a flood two times in the past 10 years, where the cost of repairing the flood damage, on the average, equaled or exceeded 25 percent of its market value at the time of each flood. If your community determines that your home or business is damaged by flood to the point that repairs will cost 50 percent or more of the building's pre-damage market value.Below are the definitions to learn more about those terms: If you receive a declaration from your local floodplain administrator that your home is substantially or repetititvely damaged, you may file a claim for your Increased Cost of Compliance (ICC)coverage. When to File an Increased Cost of Compliance Claim It involves making a building watertight through a combination of adjustments or additions of features to the building that reduces the potential for flood damage. This option is available primarily for non-residential buildings. This moves your home or business out of harm's way. It’ll be best to first understand exactly, what is crossplay. It was during a visit to London Zoo, where Christopher became enamoured with the tame and amiable bear Winnipeg, that Milne was inspired to write the story of Winnie-the-Pooh for his son. Note: Dying this way is required to get the "Torn apart" achievement in State of Decay, and to unlock the hero character Jacob Ritter in Breakdown. Occasionally, when the zombies cannot do the "tear in half" animation (due to them being obstructed by the environment or some other reason), the character simply lies dead or get bitten in the neck. When the character's max health depletes, he/she gets torn in half by two zombies. At this point, each attack from surrounding zombies directly reduces maximum health. The screen turns near black and white, the character sits down, covers his/her head and the prompt "Press to get up" is displayed on the screen. Types of deaths Torn apart by zombies When a character loses all health, they enter the "struggling" state. However in State of Decay 2, if a player’s community dies, they receive a game over and the player is returned to the main menu, where they will have to create a new community or play an active one. In State of Decay, if all survivors in a community die, a new one will spawn in. In the DLC Breakdown, however, characters killed in a previous level can be recruited again in subsequent levels.
